UPP, International Hall for University of London

04th June 2018

Client: UPP
Project location: Bloomsbury, London WC1
Accommodation: 2 concept student bedrooms
Project duration: 16 weeks
Project completion: June 2015

We were asked to design and furnish 2 concept guest bedrooms in International Hall on behalf of UPP. Themes for each of 4 rooms in total had already been decided by the student body themselves, and predominatly used by visiting lecturers and post-graduate student, as well as being available to students on a per night basis when unoccupied.

For both the Industrial and Mid Century rooms, the brief was to challenge convention and offer an alternative to instutitional accommodation – creating a home-from-home environment that is immediately welcoming and cozy.

Although overtly and intentionally residential in appearance, the majority of pieces were chosen to be durable and easy to maintain.

The project remains one of our favourites, as it gave us an opportunity to deploy our full range of skills – from interior design and space planning, through bespoke product sourcing, installation and dressing and styling. in-house window treatment service,

Project highlights include:

  • Our in-house design team developed a complete interior scheme that incorporated furniture, window treatments, wall finishes, lighting and accessories
  • We supplied all furniture, wallpaper, window treatments, accessories and lighting
  • Both rooms have been very popular with guests, and the Mid Century room is the most popular of all 4 rooms included in the concept scheme
